This legislation repeals the Biden Administration's mandate that new homes follow an expensive, international green energy standard.\n\n\u201cBidenomics\u201d is killing Americans\u2019 homeownership dreams.\u201d said Rep. Davidson (R-OH). \"The Biden Administration\u2019s green energy mandate would raise new home prices by $31,000. At the same time, home prices are at a record high, mortgage rates are at a 20-year high, and home affordability has never been lower. Congress must put an end to this unnecessary green energy mandate.\u201d\n\nBackground:\n\nOn April 26th of 2024, The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in concert with USDA promulgated a final decision regarding new energy standard requirements for federally backed financing.\n\nThe final determination will require all HUD and USDA financed single-family home construction be built to the 2021 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC).\n\nIt also requires HUD financed multifamily building construction be built to the same IECC code or ASHRAE standard.", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-07T21:11:47Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://davidson.house.gov/2024/6/rep-warren-davidson-introduces-the-home-affordability-for-americans-cra"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.8351919241249561, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
