The investments stem in part from the American Rescue Plan, which Davids was the only member of Kansas\u2019 congressional delegation to support.\n\n\u201cBecause hard-working families are still dealing with inflationary pressures, I\u2019m squarely focused on making life more affordable for all Kansans. That certainly includes developing new, affordable housing options throughout Kansas\u2019 Third District,\u201d said Davids. \u201cThis new federal grant, which I am proud to have supported, will help build and rehabilitate affordable housing in our state, decreasing housing instability and easing housing costs over time.\u201d\n\nIn total, 20 Kansas projects will receive $19 million to develop affordable housing for moderate-income families in rural areas of the state. In Kansas\u2019 Third District, awardees include:\n\nOttawa - $400,000\n\nTo develop 11 multi-family rental units at Legacy Lofts\n\nBonner Springs - $1,700,000\n\nTo develop 100 multi-family rental units at 120 Oak\n\n\u201cKansas Housing is honored to roll out this latest round of housing investments across the state, including in the 3rd Congressional District,\u201d said Ryan Vincent, Executive Director, Kansas Housing Resources Corporation. \u201cInvesting in quality, affordable homes is key to economic development, job growth, and vibrant communities. By leveraging essential federal funding sources like the American Rescue Plan with state and private capital to fill the development cost gaps, KHRC is unlocking home and investing in Kansans and our communities.\u201d\n\n\u201cThe Unified Government has been studying housing needs as we complete a countywide market analysis later this month,\u201d said David Johnston, County Administrator, Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kansas. \u201cThe addition of 100 units in the City of Bonner Springs will help us address the growing demand for quality, affordable housing countywide. We appreciate the continued support of Representative Davids.\u201d\n\nThe 20 projects will benefit from the Kansas\u2019 Moderate Income Housing (MIH), MIH-American Rescue Plan Act (MIH-ARPA), and Kansas Housing Investor Tax Credit (KHITC) programs. Combined with the amount leveraged by each community, the awards represent a total investment of $90,933,755 and a net gain of 513 affordable, quality housing units in Kansas.\n\nDavids voted for the American Rescue Plan to bring targeted COVID relief to Kansas and help distribute life-saving vaccines, keep schools and businesses open, and support Kansans through the biggest public health and economic crisis in generations. Since its passage, Kansas has seen its positive impact \u2014boosting child care services in Shawnee, implementing tax cuts for middle-class families, and connecting Kansans to new opportunities through the Kansas City Streetcar expansion \u2014 in every corner of Kansas\u2019 Third District.
