ShariceDavidstodayreleased a report highlighting the high prices of diabetes medication like insulin for seniors and the uninsured populations in Kansas' Third Congressional district.\n\nThe report found that Kansas Third residents are payingdrasticallyhigher prices than they would in other countries, placing a significant economic burden on both taxpayers and patients.\n\nThis report confirms what many Kansas families know all too well: insulin prices in our country are soaringand drug companies are continuing to profit while families and communities suffer,saidDavids.We've seen folks forced to take drastic measures, like rationing their insulin, due to the sky-high price of this medication.Some have eventragicallydied while doing so. We need to pass legislation now to increase transparency in drug pricing, stop drug companies from gaming the system and unfairly raising prices, and allow Medicare to negotiate for lower drug prices.\n\nThe report found that:\n\n \nThere are 17,000 seniors and disabled Medicare beneficiaries who have been diagnosed with diabetesin KS-03.\n\tThe 50 most popular brand-name diabetes medications used by these beneficiaries are 4.8 times the cost in Australia, 3.4 times the cost in the United Kingdom, and 2.7 times the cost in Canada.\n\tThere are 66,000 uninsured residents in the district.\n\tUninsureddiabetes patients in the district who purchase NovologFlexpena popular brand of insulinpay on average 21 times more than they would in Australia, 14 times more than they would in the United Kingdom, and 12 times more than they would in Canada.\n\tMedicare beneficiaries pay significantly more for their drugs than patients abroadbecause Medicare lacks the authority to negotiate directly with drug manufacturer.\n\tPatients who are uninsured or underinsured and must pay for their drugs out of pocket bear an even greater cost burden.\n\t\n \nTo view the full report, clickHERE.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://davids.house.gov/media/press-releases/rep-davids-releases-report-insulin-prices-kansas-third-emphasizes-need-lower"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.8787310216575861, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
