Diana DeGette (D-CO) released the following statement as Jim Jordan advances his bid to become Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives:\n\n\u201cIt\u2019s a shame that House Republicans are once again shrugging off bipartisanship to embrace extremism \u2013 especially given the domestic and international crises we\u2019re facing.\u201d\n\n\u201cJim Jordan has been described by members of his own party as a \u2018legislative terrorist.\u2019 He was a key leader for those in Congress who pushed the Big Lie and sought to overturn a free and fair election. He\u2019s repeatedly embraced conspiracy theories, pushed for radical restrictions on our reproductive rights, and consistently advocated for draconian spending cuts that would harm the American people.\u201d\n\n\u201cThere is nothing in the entirety of Jim Jordan\u2019s record that indicates he can put the good of the country over partisan politics.
