It is her sixth piece of legislation to pass the House of Representatives.\n\nDe La Cruz\u2019s legislation, which passed Wednesday, ensures that service-connected disability compensation from the Department of Veterans Affairs is excluded from income calculations when requesting assistance under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.\n\n\u201cOur veterans have sacrificed so much for our nation, and this legislation removes barriers to housing assistance for those with service-connected disabilities,\u201d De La Cruz said. \u201cThis is about ensuring equity and access for our heroes.\u201d\n\nH.R. 7480 will:\n\nEnhance Housing Accessibility: Veterans with disabilities can more easily qualify for housing programs.\n\nPromote Equity: Aligns the treatment of veteran benefits across the CDBG program.\n\nProvide Accountability: Requires a report to Congress on how service-connected disability compensation is treated across HUD programs to improve access for our veteran populations.\n\n\u201cThis is a victory for our veterans and reflects our nation\u2019s values,\u201d said Rep.
