DelBene", "D000617", "delbene.house.gov", "delbene", "https://delbene.house.gov/news/documentquery.aspx?DocumentTypeID=27", "scraper", "Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Women\u2019s Health Protection Act (H.R. 3755), legislation that would protect a woman\u2019s right to abortion across the United States, with Congresswoman Suzan DelBene\u2019s (WA-01) support.\n\nOn September 1, the Supreme Court allowed a radical six-week abortion ban to go into effect in Texas. Many states have promised to take up similar legislation following the court\u2019s decision. The Supreme Court is separately scheduled to hear oral arguments on Mississippi\u2019s 15-week abortion ban on December 1, a case directly designed to overturn Roe v. Wade.\n\n\u201cAbortion is health care. It is time to end the relentless string of assaults on abortion rights by making Roe the law of the land through federal statute,\u201d said DelBene. \u201cThis legislation will not only secure the right to abortion but protect access across the country by prohibiting states from implementing medically-unnecessary abortion restrictions. Time is of the essence with the Supreme Court set to consider a direct challenge to abortion rights in December, and the Senate must quickly take up this bill.\u201d\n\nDelBene hosted a press conference with Planned Parenthood Alliance Advocates \u2014 Washington and Congresswoman Kim Schrier (WA-08) on the urgent need to pass the Women\u2019s Health Protection Act last week.
