The Challenge is a nationwide competition aimed at encouraging elementary and\u00a0high school students to pursue an interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education.\nCongressman Donovan said, \u201cIt\u2019s truly inspiring to see students use their creativity and skill to develop novel programs and applications, and I congratulate Robert on winning the 2016 Congressional App Challenge. This competition showcases the innovative spirit of the next generation and exemplifies the importance of investing in STEM education.\u201d\nRobert\u2019s winning app, entitled SlayaOs, creates a computer operating system with built in programs for users. The SlayaOs programs include a text editor to type documents, an art editor application, an encryption program, and a number game that challenges users. Donovan honored Robert with a certificate of commendation for his application development, which was presented in a ceremony at his Staten Island District Office.\nEntries were reviewed by a panel of local experts and judged on the criteria of originality, creativity, and quality of the app design.
