{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["https://dougcollins.house.gov/index.cfm?sectionid=25&itemid=508", "Collins Israel Legislation Passes Committee", "2013-11-20", "2013", "2013-11", "Republican", "House", "GA", "Doug Collins", "C001093", "dougcollins.house.gov", null, null, "legacy", "Media Contact\r\n\r\n\tCOLLINS ISRAEL LEGISLATION PASSES COMMITTEE\r\n\r\n\tNortheast Georgia\u2019s Congressman: Work Was the Result of Real, Bipartisan Commitment to American-Israeli Relationship\r\n\r\n\t  \r\n\tWASHINGTON, Nov 20 \u2013 Today the House Committee on Foreign Affairs passed\u00a0 H.R. 1992, The Israel Qualitative Military Edge (QME) Enhancement Act.\u00a0 Introduced by Congressman Doug Collins (GA-09), Vice Chair of the Middle East and North Africa Subcommittee, this legislation protects Israel\u2019s military advantage over its Middle Eastern neighbors by increasing accountability and transparency in government as it pertains to the relationship between Israel and the United States.\r\n\r\n\t\u00a0\r\n\r\n\tCurrent law supports the American-Israeli relationship by requiring the president to submit a report on the status of weapons systems sold to countries in the Middle East every four years.\u00a0 H.R. 1992 will substantially increase the accountability and transparency in this process by requiring a report every two years.\u00a0 Additionally, H.R. 1992 broadens the definition of QME to take into account the impact of cyber warfare on Israeli defense.\r\n\r\n\t\u00a0\r\n\r\n\tAfter the committee markup, Congressman Collins said, \u201cThis process was built on the strongest foundation: a real, bipartisan commitment to America\u2019s vital relationship with Israel.\u00a0 We worked together and found a way to make this relationship even stronger with the increasingly important principles of transparency and accountability.\u201d\r\n\r\n\t\u00a0\r\n\r\n\tH.R. 1992 passed out of committee by voice vote and now awaits consideration by the whole House of Representatives.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://dougcollins.house.gov/index.cfm?sectionid=25&itemid=508"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.875317957252264, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
