However, on Thursday morning, I awoke to a crisp fall day and had the sense that a season of change was upon us. A few hours later, Paul Ryan was elected as the 54th Speaker of the House, and the first to hail from Wisconsin.\nAmericans are getting the sense that Speaker Paul Ryan will bring a different approach to the job. As a fellow Wisconsinite and a friend, I know Paul to be a man of strong faith and great moral character. That will be evident in his approach to this job. As a colleague, I can attest that he is a guy who can set visions. We saw him do that with his Path to Prosperity budgets and we will see him do it again in this position.\nAmong his first comments as the newly minted Speaker Ryan, he asked his colleagues, If you pray, pray for each other: Republicans for Democrats, and Democrats for Republicans. Regardless of your political beliefs, if you pray, I hope you will pray for Paul as well; our country needs him to be successful.\nAhead of the Speaker vote, I shared my thoughts with MSNBCs Thomas Roberts. Click the image below to watch that interview:\n\nIn Other News\nRecord Turnout for Wausau Job Fair:Thank you to the more than 130 employers and nearly 200 job seekers who came-out for the Wausau job fair. This was our largest job-fair to date and we received excellent feedback from the employers about the caliber of applicants!\n\n#1 Issue Facing Veterans:Veterans are seeking help from the VA for hearing loss and tinnitus more than any other disabilities facing them today: the demand for audiology services is growing at nearly 10% per year. Audiology is one of the highest demand services in the VA, and nearly half of all patients awaiting care are for audiology services. Follow up services, minor repairs and adjustments are also subject to long wait times, resulting in many Veterans not fully utilizing the devices they receive. Veterans are traveling 90 miles one way or forced to wait six weeks just to get a hearing aid adjusted by the VA. This week, I hosted an event to discussmy bill which will provide much needed options for hearing impaired Veterans.\nI am grateful to work on this issue alongside Sgt. Matt Eversmann, who is best known for his legendary leadership at the Battle of Mogadishu. His heroic efforts were depicted in the filmBlack Hawk Down.He and I spoke about the issue on Morning Joe.
