U.S. Representative Sean Duffy (WI-07) is demanding answers from Veterans Affairs (VA) officials after a recent KARE 11 news investigation found that VA hospitals in Wisconsin and Minnesota had provided misleading information about the qualifications and certifications of some of their doctors.\nIn a letter to the Tomah VAs Acting Medical Director, Victoria Brahm, Duffy says: The Veterans Health Administration has repeatedly posted inaccurate and misleading information on its website concerning the competency and ability of its doctors to provide veterans with the care they deserve. It is troubling to think that the men and women who wore the uniform of the United States Armed Forces would be treated by doctors who should not be wearing a lab coat.\nHe asked the Director to respond to seven specific inquiries:\n When did the VA find out about the misinformation on its website?\n\tWhat actions were taken when the VA was made aware of this and when were those actions taken?\n\tHave patients been notified about their physicians license denials, or inaccurate information regarding their certifications?\n\tWas patient care impacted because of a physicians license denial or lack of updated certification?\n\tHas there been a review of other current health care providers and their licenses and certifications?\n\tWhat is current practice to ensure that all health care providers are up to date with license and certification?\n\tWere any doctors inaccurately listed as licensed or certified on the VAs website compensated at an amount based on the inaccurate information listed?\n Read the full text of the letter here:15.11.13 Letter to Tomah VA.pdf\nAmong the physicians in question is the primary care doctor for Thomas Baer, who passed away earlier this year after failing to receive adequate and timely medical attention from the Tomah VA staff.
