Madsen\u2019s drawing \u201cFreckle Face\u201d is a self-portrait highlighting her unique facial features surrounded by blooming roses. Madsen is finishing her senior year at Roncalli High School. Her art teacher is Amy Heinz. The artwork will be on exhibit for the next year in the Cannon Tunnel at the U.S. Capitol, along with the winning artwork from other congressional districts.\n\nSecond place was awarded to Lilly Young, a senior at Mitchell High School. Her art teacher is Marica Shannon. Young\u2019s black and white photograph \u201cFrozen in Fog\u201d will be displayed in Rep. Johnson\u2019s Washington, D.C. office for the next year.\n\n\u201cCongratulations to Eva and Lilly and thank you to all of the students who submitted artwork,\u201d said Johnson. \u201cI\u2019m excited to receive the new artwork and share the talent of South Dakota\u2019s student artists with the rest of the nation. The art competition is a highlight around our offices. We\u2019re always amazed with the quality and skill of our young artists.\u201d\n\nThe Congressional Art Competition is sponsored by the members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The South Dakota Arts Council partners with Congressman Johnson\u2019s office to carry out this initiative.
