Visiting Washington, D.C. has only strengthened my pride in being an American.\u201d\n\nSheriff Marty Mechaley has been in law enforcement since 1993 as the small-town chief of Bison, South Dakota and later as a detective in Aberdeen. He was appointed Custer County Sheriff in 2017, then elected in 2018, and has served in that role since. Much of Sheriff Mechaley\u2019s work in Custer County has involved methamphetamine issues and Fundamentalist Latter-Day Saints (FLDS)-related matters.
