Micucci\u2019s mixed media artwork is named \u201cThe Original Soldier.\u201d Micucci is a sophomore at Tea Area High School. Her art teacher is Angela Kamps. The artwork will be on display for the next year in the Cannon Tunnel at the U.S. Capitol along with the winning artwork from other congressional districts.\n\nSecond place was awarded to Porshia Zimiga, a senior at Wall High School. Her artwork, titled \u201cA Whispering Dusk\u201d features white and black charcoal pencils and chalk pastels. Zimiga\u2019s piece will be displayed in Johnson\u2019s Washington, D.C. office.\n\n\u201cThese two art pieces reflect the history and heritage of South Dakota,\u201d said Johnson. \u201cCongratulations to Cadence and Porshia \u2013 your art showcases your skills and creativity and will represent South Dakota well in Congress. I\u2019m impressed with your work.\u201d\n\nThe Congressional Art Competition is sponsored by the members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The South Dakota Arts Council partners with Johnson\u2019s office to carry out this initiative.
