China's growing investment in U.S. agricultural land has raised concerns about the security of our food supply. Johnson is a leader on this bill and has been vocal in his opposition to these purchases.\n\n\u201cFood security is national security, but China \u2013 one of our biggest adversaries \u2013 has significant access to our food supply,\u201d said Johnson. \u201cI\u2019ve been committed to tackling this issue for years, working to block these purchases and protect our supply chain from those who pose a threat.\u201d\n\nThe Protecting American Agriculture from Foreign Adversaries Act would:\n\nAdd the Secretary of Agriculture to the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) for certain covered transactions, including agricultural land, agriculture biotechnology, and the agriculture industry - transportation, storage, and processing.\n\nEnsure USDA has a seat at the table to properly report and review transactions from the People\u2019s Republic of China, Democratic People\u2019s Republic of Korea, the Russian Federation, and the Islamic Republic of Iran.", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-07T21:43:57Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://dustyjohnson.house.gov/media/press-releases/johnson-protects-ag-land-china"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.9919861331582069, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
