Chairwoman Janet Alkire from the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe also testified in support of Johnson\u2019s bill.\n\n\u201cThe Hippocratic oath tells us to first \u2018do no harm,\u2019\u201d said Johnson. \u201cUnfortunately, we\u2019re not living up to those principles with regard to Purchased and Referred Care and the Indian Health Service.\u201d\n\nImage\n\nClick here or the image above to watch Johnson\u2019s remarks.\n\nThe Purchased and Referred Care Improvement Act of 2024 would:\n\nEnsure that IHS \u2013 not the tribal citizen \u2013 is liable for payments for PRC services that are or were authorized by IHS.\n\nDirects the Secretary to notify PRC providers and patients that the patients are not liable to any provider or debt collector for charges associated with authorized PRC services.\n\nPermits IHS to establish and implement procedures to allow patients that paid out-of-pocket for IHS-authorized PRC services to be reimbursed by IHS no later than 30 days after a patient submits the necessary documentation.", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-07T20:47:55Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://dustyjohnson.house.gov/media/press-releases/johnson-testifies-his-ihs-reform-bill"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.9221660438925028, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
