The bill passed with a vote of 407-4. Johnson is a member of the Fentanyl Policy Working Group within the Select Committee on China.\n\n\u201cChina is the number one producer of fentanyl\u2014the deadliest drug\u2014and its precursor chemicals, yet the Chinese government continues to allow the flow of fentanyl out of their country,\u201d said Johnson. \u201cWe must do more to protect our kids and adults and make our communities safe. I\u2019m grateful the Stop Chinese Fentanyl Act passed with overwhelming bipartisan support to penalize the Chinese entities and officials who are fueling the fentanyl crisis in America.\u201d\n\nBackground:\n\nCompanies in China produce nearly all fentanyl precursor ingredients.\n\nFentanyl is the leading cause of death for Americans aged 18-45.\n\nAccording to the Drug Enforcement Agency, 42% of pills tested for fentanyl contained at least 2 mg of fentanyl, considered a potentially lethal dose.
