{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["https://ebjohnson.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/congresswoman-eddie-bernice-johnson-s-floor-remarks-in-support-of", "Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnsons Floor Remarks in Support of Brownfields Program", "2017-11-30", "2017", "2017-11", "Democrat", "House", "TX", "Eddie Johnson", "J000126", "ebjohnson.house.gov", null, null, "legacy", "WASHINGTON, DC \u2013 Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson delivered remarks on\u00a0the House Floor\u00a0today in support of H.R. 3017, the Brownfields Enhancement, Economic, Redevelopment and Reauthorization of 2017. \u00a0A transcript of her speech can be found below:\n\u201cMr. Speaker, the Brownfields program has been a notable success in our nation\u2019s history. \u00a0The Brownfields program has helped to transform and cleanup countless abandoned, idled, or potentially-contaminated commercial and industrial sites all across the United States. \u00a0These once blighted areas within our communities are now valuable tracts of land thanks to the Brownfields program.\nAs a Congresswoman from North Texas, I have seen firsthand the benefits that Brownfields redevelopment can bring to a community. \u00a0A 72-acre site in my district, formerly known as Victory Park, was transformed by the Brownfields program from an industrial wasteland populated by an old paint factory and meatpacking plant. \u00a0Since then \u2013 and thanks in large part to the Brownfields Program \u2013 that same plot is now home to the American Airlines Center and other retail and commercial space. \u00a0This is just one example in my Congressional district and across the country of how successful we can be in converting depressed, decaying areas into vibrant economic and cultural centers that can increase employment and productivity in the region.\nThat is why I stand together with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to support H.R. 3017.\u00a0 This bill will take the important step to reauthorize the Brownfields program through 2022.\u00a0 While the bill represents a flat reauthorization, it makes crucial changes to the program that will improve the way states, cities, counties, and other stakeholders are able to utilize Brownfields sites. \u00a0It is time that we continue the rich tradition driving this program and reauthorize the Brownfields program without further hesitation. \u00a0Thank you, I yield back.\u201d\n# # #", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://ebjohnson.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/congresswoman-eddie-bernice-johnson-s-floor-remarks-in-support-of"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.0220629628747702, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
