With the new 9-8-8 hotline, intervention will be as accessible and straightforward as it is for any other emergency.\u201d\n\n\u201cWe were proud to join this effort to ensure all Americans have readily-available mental health support in times of need,\u201d Emmer concluded.\n\nThe National Suicide Prevention Lifeline transitions from (1-800-273-8255) to 9-8-8 on July 16, 2022.\n\nBackground:\n\nFor every individual who dies by suicide, 316 people seriously consider it. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline has received over 20 million calls from Americans since 2005.\n\nIn 2020, Congressman Emmer cosponsored the National Suicide Hotline Designation Act.
