Access to education that reflects our religious is a right, and deserves to be protected,\u201d Emmer said.\n\n\u201cThank you to the students, faculty and staff of Crown College for opening up their campus for today\u2019s visit,\u201d Emmer concluded.\n\nPresident Andrew C. Denton shared, \u201cFor over 100 years, Crown College has remained a boldly Christian college dedicated to our mission to provide biblically based education. We are thankful to Congressman Emmer for supporting Crown as we remain steadfast in our commitment to protecting our mission and our community\u2019s deeply held religious beliefs.\u201d\n\nCrown College was founded in 1916 as a Bible college in St. Paul. Now operating from their campus in St. Bonifacius, they offer faith-guided in-person, online and graduate degree programs. The college also offers sixteen NCAA Division III teams, as well as internship and summer outreach programs.\n\nBackground:\n\nIn May, Crown College and the University of Northwestern-St. Paul sued the Walz administration over language in the 2023 Minnesota higher education funding bill that would have exempted the schools from participating in the Postsecondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) program because they required \u201cfaith statements.\u201d\n\nThe PSEO program allows Minnesota students to earn college credits while still in high school.\n\nFollowing the issuance of a temporary injunction from U.S. District Judge Nancy Brasel, the Minnesota Attorney General\u2019s Office announced that it would not enforce the funding bill\u2019s provision disallowing schools with faith statements.\n\nA statement from Emmer about the Walz administration\u2019s discrimination against faith-based education is available here.\n\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-08T00:18:03Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://emmer.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/emmer-tours-crown-college"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.7183635607361794, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
