Congressman Ezell released the following statement at the conclusion of today's markup:\n\n\"As a member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I\u2019m proud that we\u2019ve worked together to pass several bipartisan bills that will truly make a difference in the lives of Americans,\" Ezell said. \"These measures are designed to strengthen our critical infrastructure, hold fraudulent actors in the transportation sector accountable, and shore up the security of all Federal buildings and facilities. These pieces of legislation reflect our shared commitment to delivering real, lasting solutions that improve safety, efficiency, and reliability for all Americans.\"\n\nBACKGROUND\n\nThe Transporation and Infrastructure Committee voted to send a number of bills to the House Floor for further consideration, including:\n\nH.R. 8505, the Household Good Shipping Consumer Protection Act, (sponsored by Congresswoman Norton (DC-At-Large), co-led by Congressman Ezell (MS-04)), which would clarify that the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has the tools to protect consumers from fraud perpetrated by residential moving companies in the interstate transportation of household goods.\n\nH.R. 9541, the Promoting Opportunities to Widen Electrical Resilience (POWER) Act of 2024, (sponsored by Congresswoman Hoyle (OR-04), co-led by Congressman Ezell (MS-04)), which would provide more eligibility and flexibility for public power utilities to invest in long-term hazard mitigation and grid resilience solutions, strengthening critical infrastructure before and after natural disaster strikes.\n\nH.R. 9037, the Federal Emergency Mobilization Accountability (FEMA) Workforce Planning Act, (sponsored by Congressman Carter (LA-2), co-led by Congressman Ezell (MS-04)), which would address the longstanding workforce challenges that FEMA has experienced in recent years.\n\nH.R. 8530, the Improving Federal Building Security Act of 2024, (sponsored by Congressman Ezell (MS-04), which would improve the security of Federal buildings by ensuring Federal agencies take into consideration recommendations made by the Federal Protective Service (FPS) on actions needed to better secure their buildings and facilities.", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-07T21:43:57Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://ezell.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=538"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 2.438461873680353, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
