The no tax on tips is a game changer for my team at Gratitude Spa and Salon,\u201d Chorne said.\n\nChorne is a small business owner and employer who understands firsthand how tax policy impacts working families and service industry employees. As a salon owner, she represents the millions of hardworking Americans who rely on tips as an important part of their income.\n\nFedorchak helped move the Working Families Tax Cuts Act to the President\u2019s desk last year, which includes President Trump\u2019s No Tax on Tips policy. This provision retroactively applies to the 2025 tax year and allows workers to deduct up to $25,000 in qualified, voluntary tips\u2014both cash and credit card\u2014from their gross income. The deduction begins to phase out for single filers with modified adjusted gross income (MAGI) over $150,000 and, for joint filers, over $300,000.\n\nAccording to Drew Bachman, director of financial solutions at Fidelity, \"a restaurant server in the 22% tax bracket who makes $20,000 in tips would save $4,400 in federal income taxes.\u201d\n\nNearly 70 types of jobs in 8 categories are eligible for the No Tax on Tips deduction, including:\n\nBeverage and food service (e.g. bartenders, restaurant servers, baristas)\n\nEntertainment and events (e.g. casino dealers, street performers, coat checkers)\n\nHospitality and guest services (e.g. porters, concierges, housekeepers)\n\nHome services (e.g. handymen, repairers)\n\nPersonal services (e.g. personal care aides, tutors, child care providers)\n\nPersonal appearance and wellness (e.g. salon workers, fitness instructors)\n\nRecreation and instruction (e.g. music teachers, tour guides)\n\nTransportation and delivery (e.g. drivers, food/package delivery workers, movers)", 1, "2026-04-04T05:28:40Z", "2026-04-04T05:30:10Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://fedorchak.house.gov/media/press-releases/fedorchak-announces-guest-president-trumps-state-union-address"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.5041730366647243, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
