{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["https://fedorchak.house.gov/media/press-releases/fedorchak-statement-impact-democrat-funding-demands", "Fedorchak statement on impact of Democrat funding demands", "2025-10-02", "2025", "2025-10", "Republican", "House", "ND", "Julie Fedorchak", "F000482", "fedorchak.house.gov", "fedorchak", "https://fedorchak.house.gov/media/press-releases", "scraper", "Washington, D.C. \u2013 Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak (R-ND) released the following statement on the Democrat-led government shutdown:\n\n\u201cInstead of supporting the very funding levels they enacted and voted for multiple times, Senate Democrats chose to shut down the government to push a $1.5 trillion partisan wish list,\u201d Fedorchak said. \u201cThat list includes eliminating the health section of the Working Families Tax Cut plan\u2014opening the door to taxpayer-funded healthcare for illegal immigrants, reinstating the Biden admin\u2019s one-size-fits-all staffing mandate that would be devastating to North Dakota nursing homes, and wiping out the $50 billion Rural Health Transformation Fund. These are nonstarters. North Dakotans don\u2019t support this $1.5 trillion wish list nor will I.\u201d\n\nOn September 19, 2025, the House passed a Continuing Resolution (CR). The legislation is a simple, short-term funding extension for 7 weeks that continues to fund the government at current levels\u2014levels that Democrats enacted and have previously supported\u2014until November 21, 2025. Passing the CR allows Congress to continue FY26 appropriations negotiations and return to funding the government through regular order.\n\nHowever, the CR requires 60 votes to pass in the Senate. Senate Democrats voted against passing the CR, creating a lapse in government funding and causing the government to shut down. The alternate Democrat-supported resolution would inject partisan policies and massive spending into the funding process. It includes a $1.5T proposal that would cost taxpayers an additional $48.39 billion a day just to keep the government open for a month.\n\nSpecifically, the Democrat-supported CR:\n\nRemoves the modest 20-hour per week work requirements established in the Working Families Tax Cuts for able-bodied, working-age adults on Medicaid\n\nRestores taxpayer-funded free healthcare for illegal aliens\n\nEliminates safeguards to root out waste, fraud, and abuse in the Medicaid program, such as removing deceased individuals from the program\n\nRestores the Biden administration\u2019s one-size-fits-all minimum staffing mandate for nursing homes\n\nRepeals the $50 billion Rural Health Transformation Fund, hurting hospitals and clinics in vulnerable communities", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-06T19:32:54Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://fedorchak.house.gov/media/press-releases/fedorchak-statement-impact-democrat-funding-demands"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.6002890877425671, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
