The legislation fully funds veterans\u2019 health care and benefits while making targeted investments to strengthen military readiness, improve quality of life for servicemembers and their families, and modernize critical infrastructure.\n\n\u201cSupporting our veterans and servicemembers is one of Congress\u2019s most important responsibilities,\u201d Fedorchak said. \u201cThis legislation fully funds veterans\u2019 health care and benefits, strengthens mental health and suicide prevention programs, improves military housing and barracks, and supports the strong care our troops and veterans have earned through their service to our country.\u201d\n\nThe legislation provides $450.3 billion for the Department of Veterans Affairs, including full funding for veterans\u2019 medical care, benefits, and toxic exposure-related care for veterans exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, and other hazardous substances during military service.\n\nThe bill also includes:\n\nFull funding for the Community Care program, helping veterans access specialty care closer to home.\n\nInvestments in veterans\u2019 mental health and suicide prevention programs.\n\nMore than $2 billion for improvements to VA medical facilities and national cemeteries.\n\nIncreased investment for barrack upgrades and to improve military family housing.\n\nSupport for child development centers serving military families.\n\nInvestments in military readiness and Indo-Pacific infrastructure critical to U.S. national security.", 1, "2026-06-09T06:27:37Z", "2026-06-09T06:30:10Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://fedorchak.house.gov/media/press-releases/fedorchak-supports-first-fy27-appropriations-bill-strengthen-veterans-care-and"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.8548109326511621, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
