Kearra, who recently graduated from St. Joseph\u2019s Academy in Baton Rouge, was accompanied by her mother Latreace Grisby and her grandmother Sandra Moore.\n\nThe Congressional Art Competition is a visual art contest sponsored by the Congressional Institute for high school students in each congressional district across the nation. Kearra\u2019s winning photography piece entitled \u201cCrown\u201d will be on display in the tunnels of the United States Capitol alongside over 400 other examples of exemplary artwork from students across the country.\n\nWhen asked about the experience Kearra said \u201cIt feels very powerful and definitely very impactful to me. I\u2019m very excited to be here and I\u2019m just soaking it all in.\u201d\n\n\u201cThe arts are so important to our kids and schools,\u201d said Rep. Fields. \u201cWe need to be creating more avenues and opportunities for our young people to express themselves and display their talents.
