Figures\u2019 (AL-02) bipartisan bill to rename a local post office in Tuskegee in honor of the Tuskegee Airmen passed the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. This is major progress toward the bill becoming law, with the next step being a vote in the full House of Representatives.\n\n\u201cThe Tuskegee Airmen were national heroes and trailblazers who had an undeniable, lasting impact on our country, and renaming this post office is a meaningful way to bring attention to our history and honor their legacy,\u201d said Congressman Figures. \u201cI want to thank Congressman Gary Palmer for his work to advance my bipartisan bill to honor these brave soldiers through the Oversight Committee. I look forward to it eventually passing the House and becoming law.\u201d\n\nThe Tuskegee Airmen are among Alabama and America\u2019s most celebrated service members. The Airmen were comprised of African American pilots and support personnel who trained at Tuskegee Army Airfield and fought bravely during World War II.
