The keynote speaker was Bellevue Mayor Rita Sanders. Rep. Jeff Fortenberry, R-Neb., was there with other community leaders.\nLeadership Bellevue helps participants determine what Bellevue needs, while sharpening leadership skills. The program shows future leaders the community\u2019s past, present and future with presentations of current leaders, tours, panel discussions and communication between participants and community decision-makers. The goal is to let each participant face Bellevue\u2019s challenges, and to inspire them to accept responsibility to lead.\nThe class emcees were Naviere Walkewicz, US Strategic Command; and Eric Mahowald, Offutt 55th Wing. The yearly celebration presents two community awards: \u201cPartner in Excellence\u201d and \u201cDistinguished Alumni.\u201d\n\u201cPartner in Excellence\u201d recognizes partnerships that created impact for the betterment of Bellevue.\nThe Offutt community award went to Marathon Ventures; accepting the award for Marathon Ventures was John Larsen.\nThe Partners in Excellence Distinguished Alumni Award was presented to Roger Cox, community relations coordinator for Bellevue Police.
