This announcement comes amid alarming unemployment figures. In the absence of the Bureau of Labor Statistics\u2019 October jobs report and timely November data, there has been a surge in layoffs across major industries, with AI integration cited as a significant factor.\n\n\u201cTens of thousands of Americans are receiving AI-related layoff notices this holiday season\u2013\u2013all under President Trump\u2019s watch,\u201d said Congresswoman Valerie Foushee. \u201cYet Washington continues to stall on enacting meaningful AI policies that would protect American jobs and ensure our nation leads in the responsible development of this transformative technology. The American people deserve answers, and I\u2019m fighting every day to deliver them on their behalf.\u201d\n\nKey findings from Rep. Foushee\u2019s report include:\n\nIn response to these findings, Congresswoman Foushee sent a letter to the Chief Executive Officers of companies that have announced recent or major layoffs in 2025. The executives were asked to provide information regarding the extent and causes of these job cuts. The letters were sent to Amazon, Salesforce, Meta, Verizon, Microsoft, IBM, Google, Accenture, HP, Intel, Target, UPS, Synopsys, Lenovo.
