Virginia Foxx, R-N.C., today voted in favor of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2015, which authorizes funding for America\u2019s military and defense initiatives. It passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 300 to 119.\n\n\u201cProviding for the common defense of the United States of America is the federal government\u2019s primary responsibility,\u201d said Foxx. \u201cThis bill maintains the nation\u2019s defense readiness and ensures the continued success of our military men and woman by providing them with the best equipment, skills development and compensation.\u201d\n\nCongress has passed the National Defense Authorization Act during each of the last 52 years. This year\u2019s bill authorizes $521.3 billion in discretionary spending for national defense, which includes funding for the pay and benefits of the nation\u2019s troops and their families. Additionally it authorizes $63.7 billion for overseas contingency operations.\n\n###\n\nU.S. Rep. Virginia Foxx is currently serving her fifth term as the representative of North Carolina\u2019s 5th Congressional District and is the elected Republican Conference Secretary.
