Frankel. \u201cThis important legislation follows through on our promise to take care of our seniors by providing a bump in benefits to older Americans who rely on this program today and protects the longevity of the Social Security by asking millionaires and billionaires pay their fair share.\u201d\n\nThe Social Security 2100 Act would:\n\nProvide a benefit bump for current and new beneficiaries of around 2 percent to help address the current retirement crisis.\n\nProtect against inflation by improving the annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) formula to better reflect the costs incurred by seniors.\n\nExtend the depletion date for when a 20 percent cut to benefits would occur to 2038, giving Congress more time to ensure the long-term stability of the program.\n\nProtect low-income workers to ensure that anyone who paid into Social Security over their lifetime can retire with dignity.\n\nEstablish a Social Security Trust Fund to ensure all benefits are paid.\n\nImprove benefits for widows and widowers in two-income households.\n\nEnd the five-month waiting period for disability benefits.\n\nProvide caregiver credits to ensure that caregivers are not penalized in retirement for taking time off to care for children or other dependents.\n\nExtend benefits for students through the age of 26.\n\nIncrease access to benefits for children who live with grandparents or other relatives.\n\nEnsure that millionaires and billionaires pay the same rate as average Americans, a provision that would only impact the top 0.4 percent of wage earners.\n\nThe bill now goes to the Ways and Means Committee for review.\n\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-06T20:24:51Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://frankel.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=3353"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.0374430567026138, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
