She was one of the first women to serve as a U.S. Capitol Police Officer, and when she retired from service, she held the esteemed rank of Inspector. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police for two decades. After retiring, Childs resided in Surfside Beach, South Carolina.\n\nThis legislation would rename the United States Post Office located at 420 Highway 17 North in Surfside Beach, South Carolina, the \u201cNancy Yount Childs Post Office Building.\u201d\n\n\u201cNancy\u2019s commitment to service and trailblazing accomplishments deserve to be honored and remembered,\u201d said Congressman Russell Fry. \u201cRenaming the Surfside Beach Post Office in recognition of Nancy is just one small way of showing our appreciation for her commitment. I am proud to introduce this legislation in honor of her service one year after her passing.\u201d\n\n\u201cNancy was a dedicated wife, mother, and public servant,\u201d said Bob Childs. \u201cI'm incredibly grateful to Congressman Fry for recognizing Nancy with this distinct honor.
