Russ Fulcher announced he will be hosting the 2020 Congressional App Challenge (CAC) for high school and middle school students in Idaho\u2019s First District.\n\nThe CAC accepts computer programs (or apps) written in any programming language and built for any platform (desktop/PC, web, mobile, raspberry Pi, etc.). Students of all skill levels are encouraged to participate- including students with no prior coding experience.\n\nThe Challenge\u2019s submission portal is currently open, and will remain so until the deadline of October 19th, 2020.\n\nWinners will be selected by a panel of judges drawn from the local community and asked by Rep. Fulcher to share their expertise with the participating students. Winning submissions will be featured on display in the U.S. Capitol building, Rep. Fulcher\u2019s official website, and on the Congressional App Challenge website.\n\nThe CAC was created because Congress recognized that STEM and computer-based skills are essential for economic growth and innovation and that the U.S. has been falling behind on these fronts. These are high-paying, high-demand jobs. To maintain American competitiveness, it\u2019s crucial that the United States invests in our youth now and helps them acquire these valuable skills. The CAC encourages students to pursue those skills and recognizes them for their efforts.\n\nFor further information about the Congressional App Challenge, and resources for students coding for the first time, visit www.CongressionalAppChallenge.us, or call Jackie Phillips in Rep. Fulcher\u2019s Meridian office at 208-888-3188.\n\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-06-28T00:18:24Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://fulcher.house.gov/2020/07/16/id-74877de0-9c82-4909-8527-09ab0e2d8c74/"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 2.1077203564345837, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
