The CARES Act provided federal resources to small businesses struggling to stay afloat during the mandated COVID-19 shut downs. Under the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), Idaho businesses have received over $2.6 billion dollars in loans. Congressman Fulcher believes the government has a responsibility to ensure they are in a position to recover and prosper.\n\nIn April, Senator Risch, Governor Little, and the Idaho Department of commerce formed The Support Local Gems initiative to keep small businesses afloat, and invite Idahoans to buy locally through less or no contact.\n\n\u201cSmall businesses make up the backbone of this country and represent the American Dream in its truest form,\u201d Congressman Fulcher commented. \u201cI am committed to making sure they are in a position to bounce back stronger than ever.\u201d\n\nNational Small Business Week will be hosted virtually by the U.S. Small Business Administration, and hopes to commemorate the small businesses who have remained diligent throughout the pandemic.
