I want to thank my colleague, Congressman Seth Moulton, for co-leading this bipartisan effort, and I look forward to delivering this bill to President Trump\u2019s desk.\u201d\n\nThe bipartisan bill, which was co-led by Congressman Seth Moulton (D-Massachusetts), would require manufacturers of internet-connected smart appliances such as refrigerators, washers, dryers, and dishwashers to disclose to consumers when their product is equipped with a camera or microphone that is not otherwise self-evident.\n\nThe legislation would not apply to mobile phones, laptops, or other devices that a consumer would reasonably expect to include a camera or microphone.\n\nThe Senate companion of this bill was introduced by Senate Commerce Committee Chairman Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Ranking Member Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.), and Sen. John Curtis (R-Utah). It was favorably reported out of the Senate Commerce Committee in March.\n\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-06T18:06:22Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://fulcher.house.gov/2025/04/29/id-aaaa44d2-db52-4df3-9a1e-51f63f570ec3/"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.696692779660225, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
