Golden", "G000592", "golden.house.gov", "golden", "https://golden.house.gov/media/press-releases", "scraper", "WASHINGTON \u2014 Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) announced this week that the U.S. Department of Transportation\u2019s Culvert Aquatic Organism Passage (AOP) program has awarded over $35 million to conserve spawning and migratory habitats for native fish species across Maine\u2019s Second District.\n\n\u201cMaine\u2019s unique ecosystems are a huge part of what makes our state so special,\u201d said Golden. \u201cThese efforts to restore our heritage species\u2019 access to their traditional habitats will go a long way towards boosting fish populations, our local economies, and the preservation of the great Maine wilderness.\u201d\n\nThrough a competitive annual process, the Culvert AOP program allows local, tribal, and state governments to apply for grants to help improve passageways for anadromous fish, either by upgrading or removing obstructive culverts and weirs. The four projects greenlit in Maine are set to restore over 100 miles of fish habitat, over 7,500 miles of alewife habitat, and benefit at least eight species native to Maine \u2013 including the endangered Atlantic salmon.\n\nAmong the areas receiving funding from the Culvert AOP program include:\n\n$8,945,221 for Kennebec, Lincoln, and Sagadahoc counties;\n\n$9,237,600 for Franklin County;\n\n$9,195,000 for Washington and Waldo counties;\n\n$7,741,450 for the towns of East Machias, Perry, and Pembroke.\n\nThe Culvert AOP program is funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) that Golden helped pass last Congress.", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-08T00:30:18Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://golden.house.gov/media/press-releases/golden-announces-35-million-for-fish-conservation-in-maine-s-second-district"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.853019068017602, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
