The funds will be used to replace aging airpacks and bottles.\n\n\u201cThe firefighters in the County brave dangerous situations every day to keep their family and neighbors safe,\u201d said Golden. \u201cThey need and deserve the best equipment to keep themselves safe on the job. I\u2019m proud to work to ensure that firefighters in Maine have the resources they need to keep their equipment up to date and in the best shape possible.\u201d\n\n\u201cOur department does all it can to remain fiscally responsible while ensuring that our responders have the critical equipment that we need to do the job,\u201d said North Lakes Fire & Rescue Chief Darren Woods. \u201cWithout the assistance of grants like the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG), we would not be able to meet those goals.
