Golden", "G000592", "golden.house.gov", "golden", "https://golden.house.gov/media/press-releases", "scraper", "WASHINGTON \u2014 Community projects including the construction of new child care and fire department facilities in the 2nd Congressional District will receive millions of dollars in U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) grants announced today.\n\nCongressman Jared Golden (ME-02) celebrated the announcement of the latest round of funding through the Community Development Block Grant, which he has long supported throughout the appropriations process.\n\n\u201cDirectly investing in rural America is one of the most impactful ways Congress can keep small communities safe and prosperous,\u201d Golden said. \u201cEach of these projects will make a meaningful difference for Maine families and I\u2019m glad they\u2019re getting the resources needed to break ground.\u201d\n\nAccording to the USDA, the projects will serve more than 70,000 Mainers in total. The funding breakdown for the four projects is as follows:\n\n$750,000 to the Beth Brunswick Memorial Fund for Children to construct a 5,000 square foot child care facility in Rangeley;\n\n$1,567,000 to the Town of Hancock to replace the Cemetery Road fire station with modernized two-story, 6,500+ square foot facility;\n\n$115,000 to the Millinocket Memorial Library to complete essential accessibility improvements, including a modernized elevator and new basement ramp;\n\n$100,000 to Responsible Pet Care to construct and expand pet shelter and adoption operations in Norway.\n\nThe Community Facilities Grant program provides competitive loan and grant opportunities to municipalities, tribes, and community-based nonprofits in rural areas.
