If signed into law, the legislation would provide Maine with a 22 percent increase in federal funding to expand and support programs focused on protecting survivors and preventing family and domestic violence.\n\n\"I voted to pass this bipartisan bill through the House today to provide critical resources to organizations serving domestic violence victims in Maine and working to prevent violence before it happens,\" Golden said. \"Domestic violence continues to be a serious issue in Maine and the ongoing pandemic has made the problem worse. I am proud to work across the aisle to help keep people in our state safe from violence and abuse in their homes.\"\n\nAmong other provisions, the bill would:\n\nProvide grants to provide services to victims of domestic, dating, and family violence;\n\nSupport tribes' capacity to respond to and prevent domestic violence in their communities;\n\nProvide technical assistance to organizations providing intervention and prevention services;\n\nProvide grants to organizations supporting victims and their dependents, especially in underserved and rural communities; and\n\nExpand the definitions of domestic, dating, and family violence to include economic abuse.\n\nEarlier this year, Congressman Golden voted to pass the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2021 through the House.
