Throughout this session they have fundamentally shifted the bedrock of our democracy.\n\nThe self-proclaimed \u2018constitutional textualists\u2019 seem to have conveniently ignored the one place in the Constitution that does address, where a president may be subject to criminal prosecution from the same conduct that resulted or could have resulted in an impeachment:\n\nArticle I, Sec 3, Clause 7\n\nJudgment in Cases of Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States: but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law.\n\n\u201cThis decision is an abdication of the responsibility given to a Supreme Court justice.\n\nAmericans went to sleep in the Republic our Founders gave us and woke up in a Kingdom imposed by the pen of six MAGA Supreme Court justices.\u201d", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-07T21:24:45Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://gwenmoore.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=5424"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.8302689529955387, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
