Harold \u201cHal\u201d Rogers (KY-05) voted for two bills this week to expand services and maintain strong federal support for Rural America.\n\nCongressman Rogers voted for the Improving Care in Rural America Reauthorization Act, ensuring the Rural Health Services Outreach Programs will continue through fiscal year 2030. The outreach programs will increase access to health care services and preventative screenings, improve chronic disease management and health outcomes, expand telehealth services, and reduce emergency department visits for nearly 500,000 individuals annually in Rural America.\n\n\u201cSouthern and Eastern Kentuckians face some of the nation\u2019s highest rates of health disparities, including cancer, diabetes, heart disease and obesity. These rural health outreach programs are critical to preventing and treating people where the needs are the greatest, including telehealth options for people who cannot travel for medical appointments,\u201d said Congressman Rogers.\n\nCongressman Rogers also joined fellow House Republicans in voting for House Resolution 1182 to express support for rural communities across the United States. It recognizes Rural America for being stewards of the environment, major suppliers of U.S. energy resources, critical providers of food production and manufacturing capacity, recognizing their critical role in energy production, domestic manufacturing, and economic prosperity for our nation.\n\n\u201cRural America has always been at the top of my priority list, and I am grateful to my colleagues in the House who joined together to express the support of our entire nation for our rural areas, like Southern and Eastern Kentucky, that powered the nation\u2019s industrial revolution,\u201d said Congressman Rogers. \u201cI\u2019m proud to have supported critical legislation this year to invest in rural health care, rural broadband, rural safety, and reining in job-killing regulations to help support our small businesses.\u201d\n\nCongressman Rogers also voted in support of the following legislation this year, among others, to help strengthen Rural America:\n\nA $50 billion investment to create the Rural Health Transformation (RHT) Program for all 50 states \u2013 the most historic investment in rural health in the history of the United States;\n\nLegislation to combat the opioid epidemic in rural areas, including the HALT Fentanyl Act and the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Reauthorization Act to stop the flow of illicit fentanyl into our rural communities;\n\nA two-year extension of telehealth resources in the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2026, and expanded telehealth options for cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation services through the Sustainable Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Services in the Home Act;\n\nThe Mystic Alerts Act, which encourages the use of satellite connectivity to send alert messages in hard-to-reach areas to improve public safety capabilities;\n\nStrengthening safeguards for the Universal Service Fund and ensuring the program is serving hard-to-reach areas through the Rural Broadband Protection Act of 2025;\n\nExtending Medicaid disproportionate share hospital payments;\n\nMaking health care more affordable for all American families through the Lower Health Care Premiums for All Americans Act, lowering health care premiums by an average 11% through cost sharing reductions;\n\nStreamlining enrollment processes for eligible out-of-State Medicaid and CHIP providers, through the Accelerating Kids Access to Care Act;\n\nCutting unnecessary, job-killing regulations through the Reducing and Eliminating Duplicative Environmental Regulations (RED Tape) Act; and\n\nLowering energy costs for hardworking families through the Improving Interagency Coordination for Pipeline Reviews Act.", 1, "2026-04-24T05:51:25Z", "2026-04-24T05:53:00Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://halrogers.house.gov/press-releases?ID=84E4C2CF-9125-4C43-8B69-CA18745F1E26"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 2.235016319900751, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
