Congresswoman Colleen Hanabusa voted against the third Continuing Resolution to fund the government offered by Republicans this fiscal year. \nThe short term CR passed the House by a vote of 231 to 188 and put off decisions on immigration, appropriations, and health care until Jan. 19, 2018.\nFunding the government for short periods of time is an inefficient use of tax payer resources. This is the third short term spending plan that we have considered in the last three months. We are a third of the way through the current fiscal year and have not completed the Appropriations process, meaning we have no comprehensive financial plan to manage the federal government and provide essential services and programs for our constituents, said Congresswoman Hanabusa. We need a bipartisan agreement that allows the Appropriations process to move forward by raising the spending caps imposed by the Budget Control Act, prioritizing the funding of theb Childrens Health Insurance Program (CHIP), solidifying funding for our Community Health Centers, and passing the DREAM Act. It was always the belief in the Democratic Caucus that the DREAMers would be taken care of by the end of 2017. That didnt happen. There are more than 25,000 children enrolled in CHIP in Hawaii who will wonder through the Holidays if their program will remain viable in 2018. Hawaiis 14 community health centers are awaiting a solid spending plan from the federal government. They cannot continue to care for our underserved communities while figuring out how to pay for their operations. I will not support this short sighted approach to funding the government that forces our communities to scramble and work through the uncertainties created by Congress inability to work toward a sensible spending solution.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://hanabusa.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/congresswoman-hanabusa-votes-against-latest-gop-spending-plan"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.0111068841069937, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
