Rather than create a uniform standard, this bill would effectively turn the weakest state’s laws into nationwide laws. It’s outrageous that Congress is responding to two of the worst mass shootings in modern American history by weakening our federal gun laws. Preventing future tragedies can only happen when elected officials find the courage to stand up to the gun lobby and reject dangerous proposals like this one that put public safety at risk.”
###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at
url
https://hankjohnson.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/congressman-johnson-statement-passage-gop-s-guns-everywhere-bill
