They were joined by several agriculture stakeholders, including those representing farmers and watermen, as well as local officials.\n\n\u201cI\u2019d like to thank Chairman Thompson for coming to Maryland\u2019s First Congressional District today and I would also like to thank UMES President Heidi M. Anderson for hosting us all for this important event. Agriculture is both the economic and cultural backbone of the First District and it is vital that the concerns of our local farmers and agricultural stakeholders are addressed in the Farm Bill.\u201d Rep. Harris said.\n\n\u201cListening to the concerns of America\u2019s producers and consumers is essential as we draft a highly effective Farm Bill.
