Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) released the following statement lauding the passage of these bills:\nToday, the House of Representatives passed a comprehensive package of Veterans Affairs reforms. Among these reforms, the House reauthorized critical assistance programs for homeless veterans and authorized a long overdue cost-of-living-adjustment for service-disabled veterans.\nTo address our nation's ongoing opioid epidemic, the House passed H.R. 3832, the Veterans Opioid Abuse Prevention Act. This legislation will improve information-sharing between the VA and state-based prescription drug monitoring programs, thus improving oversight of opioid prescriptions for veterans and minimizing veterans' risk of opioid dependence.\nAs a veteran myself, I am proud to support the bills passed by the House tonight. These reforms will help the VA run more efficiently and improve health outcomes for veterans.\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://harris.house.gov/media/press-releases/rep-harris-issues-statement-support-va-reform-bills"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.2307832948863506, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
