Wade. Congressional Republicans have maintained decisions regarding abortion are something best left to the states. However, Congressional Republicans in both the Senate and House of Representatives introduced legislation this week to ban abortion nationwide after 15 weeks. These bills already have the support of over 100 Republicans in Congress and that number continues to grow. This legislation to ban abortion nationwide makes it clear this was never an issue of states’ rights. This has always been about controlling women’s bodies and criminalizing healthcare for women in need,” said Congresswoman Hayes. “Abortion is healthcare and healthcare is a fundamental right. I will continue to oppose any effort to undermine access to this vital care.”

###", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-08T03:08:33Z
url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at
url
https://hayes.house.gov/press-releases?ID=2BE32245-51C9-4D54-9011-891741AC7EBA
