{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["https://herrerabeutler.house.gov/News/DocumentSingle.aspx?DocumentID=342323", "Jaime Herrera Beutler Secures Strengthened Hanford Cleanup, Small Port Dredging Funding", "2013-07-11", "2013", "2013-07", "Republican", "House", "WA", "Jaime Herrera Beutler", "H001056", "herrerabeutler.house.gov", null, null, "legacy", "Late last night, the U.S. House of Representatives passed bipartisan legislation that included funding championed by Jaime Herrera Beutler to boost Hanford cleanup efforts and provide maintenance for small ports.\u00a0 \nIncluded in the House Energy and Water Development Appropriations bill for FY2014 was an amendment supported by Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler that boosted the bill\u2019s Hanford Nuclear Site cleanup by $20 million.\u00a0In June, Jaime secured the support of the Energy and Water subcommittee chairman for increased funding for Hanford cleanup during the bill\u2019s passage through the House Appropriations Committee.\u00a0 Earlier this week, she worked alongside the sponsor of the amendment, Congressman Doc Hastings (R-WA), on the floor to earn the successful adoption of the Hanford cleanup funding.\u00a0 Watch the video of her floor speech here. \u201cThe clean-up of the Hanford site is not only a legal obligation of the federal government, it\u2019s a moral obligation to keep our citizens, wildlife and environment safe,\u201d said Jaime.\u00a0\u201cI want to thank Congressman Hastings for his leadership on Hanford cleanup, and I\u2019ll continue fighting to keep the federal commitment to this effort in place.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0  Small Port Dredging\n  \nAlso included in the bill was a provision Jaime had advocated for that would designate $30 million out of the Harbor Maintenance Trust Fund for the purpose of small port dredging.\u00a0 Jaime spoke on the floor to highlight the importance of securing this money for the nation\u2019s small ports.\u00a0 In Southwest Washington, ports in Pacific and Wahkiakum County are in jeopardy economically due to a lack of maintenance dredging that keeps its waterways passable for commercial shipping.\u00a0  \u201cOur small ports and channels are as important to our coastal communities as our highways or rail system \u2013 these waterways are their economic lifelines,\u201d said Jaime.\u00a0 \u201cWhen ships cannot enter these ports, our coastal communities are choked off and we risk losing precious jobs.\u00a0 With this bipartisan bill\u2019s passage in the U.S. House of Representatives, we\u2019re one step closer to solving a major challenge for our region\u2019s economy.\u201d", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://herrerabeutler.house.gov/News/DocumentSingle.aspx?DocumentID=342323"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.7727839983999729, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
