I\u2019m proud of what we\u2019ve been able to accomplish together in a short time, and look forward to building on these successes in the new Congress.\u201d\n\nBackground:\n\nHinson introduced 28 bills this Congress, including bills to improve access to child care, create a pro-growth regulatory environment, and ban former public servants from lobbying.\n\nHinson\u2019s bipartisan PRECISE Act, legislation that empowers farmers with conservation tools and techniques, passed the House.\n\nAs a Member of the House Appropriations Committee, Hinson has secured targeted funding for Iowa\u2019s priorities, while pushing back against wasteful spending. Hinson secured over $53 million for local projects, including:\n\n$5 million to help complete Tower Terrace Road in Linn County\n\n$45 million for the Navigation Ecosystem and Sustainability Program (NESP) along the Upper Mississippi River\n\n$100,000 to help complete the Protivin Community Fire District in Howard County\n\nHinson helped introduce three pieces of legislation that were signed into law.\n\nSergeant Ketchum Rural Veterans Mental Health Act: Hinson helped lead this legislation, in honor of an Iowa veteran who took his own life after being denied care at a VA, to help expand access to mental health care services for veterans in rural areas.\n\nVOCA Fix to Sustain the Crime Victims Fund Act of 2021: This Hinson-backed legislation helped sustain the Crime Victims Fund so that victims of violent crimes can access critical resources and support as they recover physically and emotionally from traumatic events.\n\nLegislation to posthumously award a Congressional Gold Medal to the service members who perished in Afghanistan\n\nHinson and her team put constituent service first.\n\nHer team of dedicated caseworkers helped Iowans solve problems related to the federal government, closing over 3,500 constituent cases in the 117th Congress.\n\nHinson fulfilled her promise to be transparent, accessible, and responsive to those she serves.\n\nHinson visited every county in Iowa\u2019s First Congressional District at least eight times.\n\nHinson and her team responded to approximately 60,000 constituent calls and e-mails this Congress.\n\nHinson held 20 in-person town halls, one in every county of the First Congressional District.\n\nHinson hosted fourteen virtual town halls events.\n\nHinson hosted 90 press calls open to members of the Iowa media.\n\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-08T03:32:05Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://hinson.house.gov/media/press-releases/video-release-hinson-recaps-first-term-serving-iowans-congress"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.684029120951891, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
