After House passage of a bill to reduce lawsuit fraud and abuse, Congressman George Holding (NC-13) released the following statement:\r \rLawyers who file baseless lawsuits jeopardize the integrity of our legal system  and the bill passed by the House today ensures they are held accountable. Baseless lawsuits are routinely filed because of the lack of mandatory sanctions  this bill restores mandatory sanctions, guarantying consequences for filing a baseless lawsuit. It is essential that we help protect Americans from the very-real consequences of frivolous lawsuits and advance the cause of justice in this country.\r \rBackground: H.R. 2655, the Lawsuit Abuse Reduction Act was introduced by Congressman Lamar Smith (TX-21) and cosponsored by Congressman Holding.
