On Saturday, NASA astronauts were launched to the International Space Station on the first crewed demonstration flight of the SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft. The launch represents the first time a private company, working with NASA, has launched astronauts into orbit, nearly a decade after the U.S. space shuttle program was retired.\r\nCongresswoman Kendra Horn (OK-5) attended the launch in her capacity on the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology. Congresswoman Horn is Chair of the House Subcommittee on Space and Aeronautics and introduced the NASA Authorization Act of 2020.\r\nCongratulations to NASA and SpaceX on today's successful demonstration launch of astronauts Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken to the International Space Station (ISS), said Congresswoman Kendra Horn. As the first launch of American astronauts on an American rocket from American soil in almost a decade, the Demo-2 mission marks a significant milestone for our nation's human space flight program and Commercial Crew.
