On Thursday, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled the Trump Administration cannot end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which allows approximately 700,000 Dreamers, who were brought to the United States as children, to remain in the country legally.\r\nToday's historic Supreme Court decision affirms that Dreamers are a part of the American family, said Congresswoman Kendra Horn (OK-5). This means that 700,000 DACA recipients who were brought to the United States as children are protected under the law. Today these Dreamers are American service members, teachers, students, small business owners, and frontline healthcare workers. They make our communities stronger and better. This is an important victory, but we still have work to do. Congress must pass comprehensive immigration reform and the Senate must vote on the American Dream and Promise Act to provide Dreamers with the protection and dignity they deserve.\r\nToday the Supreme Court sided against oppression, today is about rejoice in our immigrant community, said Brenda Lozano, Executive Director of Dream Action Oklahoma. Their ruling to protect DACA gives us hope in the potential that we have to continue fighting for justice.\r\nOklahoma is home to more than 6,000 DACA recipients.
