Clearly, I was not alone in my assessment. Rather than meeting the 2/3 majority needed for the vote to pass, the vote was defeated in a 174-235-1 decision. Thirty-seven of the Republican majority (who drafted the bill) also found the legislation to be insufficient and inadequate. They voted no, as well.\n\n\"I look forward to this bill being negotiated by our leadership from both sides of the aisle. I remain ready to vote on a more responsible, representative, serious, and complete effort,\" said Houlahan.\n\n###\n\nHoulahan is an Air Force veteran, an engineer, a serial entrepreneur, an educator, and a nonprofit leader.
